On September 1^st, 2012 Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a suicidal subject at 1638 NW 35 Road Kingsville, Missouri.  Deputies learned from the reporting party that Christopher Carl Canon, 50 years old of Kingsville had called her and was threatening to shoot himself.  During the conversation, the reporting party advised that she heard a single gunshot and then the telephone call was terminated.

 Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies met with the reporting party and listened to a voice mail on her cellular telephone, in which Christopher C. Canon was threatening to kill himself.  Deputies arrived on scene at the residence on NW 35 Road and made contact with Canon, who denied ever having made any comments about wanting to kill himself.  Deputies detained Christopher C. Canon until he could be mentally evaluated.

 While Missouri State Patrol Troopers were clearing the residence for any possible injured persons, they located a loaded .22 caliber rifle and observed empty packages of synthetic cannabinoids.

 Johnson County Sheriff’s Narcotics Detectives applied for and received a search warrant for the residence.  During the execution of the warrant, Detectives located a large quantity of evidence indicating heavy use of synthetic cannabinoids, abuse of prescription medications and approximately 100 pieces of marijuana smoking paraphernalia. Christopher C. Canon was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Canon was transported to the Johnson County Jail, where a mental evaluation was completed by mental health professionals. Christopher C. Canon was later released pending the filing of formal charges.
